High school mathematics teacher, athletic director, assistant principal and high school principal. Denise currently is employed by the Shiawassee RESD as a K-12 mathematics and science consultant and is also the Capital Area Science and Mathematics Center Director (CASM). CASM provides services for teachers and students in Clinton, Eaton, Ingham, Ionia and Shiawassee Counties. Denise also serves on the Board of Directors for the National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics.
Denise earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major in Mathematics and a minor in General Science from the University of Michigan – Flint. She has also earned a Master of Arts Degree in Educational Leadership from Eastern Michigan University.
Denise has worked with educators to develop sustainable systems for curriculum alignment, sound instructional design and the effective use of formative and summative assessment systems to increase student achievement. She has led teacher groups in the design of balanced assessment systems and developed K-8 common assessments in mathematics. Denise has served on the Michigan Assessment Consortium Board since 2012.
